Artists / Teracotta Ceramics, Hand Mixed Glaze / 2025
15’’ x 7’’ x 18’’
This piece was developed while I was focusing heavily on the presence of women artists in the world of art. Specifically, the presence of the women artists we will never see or know of due to the discrimination and injustice towards women in the pivotal time of art development and viewing. It's due to the perseverance and strength of those before me, who refused to give up their craft, that I can now freely create art. The form of the piece represents the constant movement and motion of artists throughout the years, and how they continuity to life each other up higher.
Greek Goddess / Terracotta Ceramics / 2024
6.5’’ x 6.5’’ x 11’’
This piece was heavily inspired by the Nike of Samothrace statue at the Louver museum. I wanted to capture the headless unknown feeling that the statue holds. For the body of the vase, I decided to lean into a cartoonish style to contradict the age and weathering of the Nike of Samothrace.
Twins / Terracotta Ceramics / 2025
7.5’’ x 7.5’’ x 14’’
This piece was developed after I watched the growth of a pair of fawns who lived near my home. The two, despite the challenges they faced, grew up with the fortune of having each other by their sides. When one eventually passed away, the other disappeared, and I never saw either of them again. The piece featured the two emerging from the body of the vase, mirroring each other's disappearance.
Half Full / Terracotta Ceramics / 2025
4’’ x 4’’ x 5.5’’
I've always loved the look of speckled slip, and as an artist I always need a new cup or vase to hold my brushes. I combined my enjoyment for the slip with my enjoyment for coil building pots to make this piece.
